Scholarship Details
Four scholarships for $1,000 will be awarded to qualifying High School Seniors who plan to pursue a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in the Fall of 2024 and Spring of 2025. Scholarship funds will be paid via ACH and may be applied toward tuition, fees, school books, and other appropriate educational expenses.
Eligibility
Our Scholarship Committee will review applications based on the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a member of First Atlantic Federal Credit Union
- Applicant must be a high school senior
- Applicant must reside in Monmouth or Ocean Counties
- Applicants/parents must be in financial need
- Scholarship must be used for study at an accredited college or university with a plan to pursue a bachelor's degree
- Academic achievement, character, leadership, community involvement, work experience, and personal recommendations will be considered in the selection of scholarship recipients.
How to Apply
Interested students must submit all of the following documents in order to be considered:
- Submit Your Application
- Write a Personal Statement
- Information about community involvement, extracurricular activities, personal interests, and academic aspirations/career goals.
- Include at least one paragraph about what a credit union means to you and how First Atlantic has impacted your financial journey.
- Information about financial circumstances that would require a need for assistance.
- Personal statements should be no more than 2 pages.
- Provide Supporting Documents
- Copy of applicant's latest transcript with SAT, GPA, and an explanation of how the GPA is scaled.
- A one-page letter of recommendation from a teacher or school official detailing the applicant's background, achievements, leadership abilities, and community involvement.
Selection Criteria
Our scholarship committee will review applications based on the following criteria:
- Academic Achievement: Demonstrated excellence in academics.
- Financial Need: Consideration of the applicant's financial situation.
- Community Involvement: Active participation and contribution to the community.
- Personal Statement Quality: Clarity, originality, and relevance of the statement.
Winners will be presented with their checks at the First Atlantic Eatontown branch. A date and time will be communicated directly with the chosen recipients. As part of the scholarship award ceremony, we would like to capture this special moment with a photograph of you receiving the check. This photo will be used to commemorate your accomplishment and may be featured in our marketing materials, social media, and website to highlight your success and inspire others.
In addition to your photo op, we will also publish the portion of your personal statement about what a credit union means to you and how First Atlantic has impacted your financial journey.
